I don’t know the creator of this MOTD but I would like to find out, because it is a fantastic visualization. The subject matter is the amount of crocheted art pieces that Madame Ulani sold on a website called www.etsy.com, where artists can sell their wares safely and securely.

The map has two different xy graphs, both positioned differently making them flow into one product line showing where they were shipped to. The lengths of the chart represent time, in both how long it took to make the item and how long it took to sell the item once it was posted.

Because it’s Friday, the MOTD is a lighter hearted than usual. The graphic does not need much, if any explanation. Have a great weekend!

Map O’ The Day #68 - Sneaker Sketch

Today’s MOTD is a napkin sketch by Michael Ditullo, the design director at Converse Basketball. His sketch of the intended process for conception to completion of a shoe, versus the actual process, is explained through images, callouts and flow arrows. The image, while amusing, is full of information about Converse shoes and the author.
For example, we can determine that Converse shoes are manufactured in China and that Mr. Ditullo is not a teetotaler.
