Here at Maga we can’t help but be obsessed with apps (really though.. who isn’t?). In fact, beyond being obsessed, exchanging reviews of design apps, news apps, social media apps and even prankster apps might be one of our favorite pastimes. So today I decided it was time to inquire about which apps are the studio’s favorite.
- Krista’s Pick:
Krista, one of our account coordinators, selected an office favorite, Pocket, as the app she likes most. Pocket is integrated in over 300 apps and functions as a folder for saving articles, videos, links, etc that you encounter throughout apps like Twitter, Flipboard and Zite.
- Chris’ Pick:
Chris, our customer experience designer, picked another popular office application, Instragram. Insta’ enables users to not only edit photos with artistic filters but also allows them to follow, like, and comment on photos from famous figures, brands and friends.
- Juraj’s Pick:
Juraj, one of our graphic designers, chose TaskRabbit as one of his favorites. This application provides customers with away to ‘outsource’ tasks such as assembling Ikea furniture (what a relief!), picking up groceries or cleaning an apartment. Alternatively, users may select tasks they are interested in completing for a fee.
- Gil’s Pick:
As the NFL heads into week 3, our CFO’s favorite is naturally the CBS Sports Fantasy Football app. The app allows users like Gil to back up their trash talk and manage their teams with the latest scores, analysis and league standings.
- Kelsey’s Pick:
Account coordinator, Kelsey, selected the Washington Post Social Reader app. The name is slightly misleading because not only does the app contain stories from the Washington Post, it also aggregates stories from a number of other major U.S. and International sources such as Mashable, Bleacher Report and The Atlantic. A feature that allows you to track articles recently read by your friends functions as the ‘social’ component.
- Julian’s Pick:
Our graphic designer and part-time DJ, Julian, picked Figure by Propellerhead. In his own words, the app is an, “innovative and interactive music making device/toy/instrument” — letting users play around with and record beats.
- Tom’s Pick:
Tired of Kayak? Our New Media Coordinator and travel aficionado, Tom, listed Hipmunk as his favorite flight and hotel deal finder. The app allows users to perform multiple searches using organized tabs and displays results in an incredibly clear, visually appealing way.
- My Pick:
As a Los Angeles native, I’m still learning to live with the volatile weather of the DC area. That said, I’ve grown to love Partly Cloudy, a weather app that displays hourly, daily or weekly weather in a neat infographic format. The critical information like temperature is shown at the top and things like the likelihood of precipitation is shown within a dynamic graph.
