Minimalist Interpretations of Mental Disorders

Check out these six posters from graphic designer Patrick Smith that use minimalist geometric design to illustrate six mental disorders.  The OCD one is immediately understandable – that one little square out of place would be infuriating for those afflicted with that disorder.

Others, like this one, are more evocative – looking at this poster makes one feel lonely and hopeless.

Graphic design may make these disorders more comprehensible to the general public, but they also risk diminishing the seriousness of them.  That said, they are still unique examples of graphic design – using color and simple shapes to illustrate really complex and potentially harmful mental conditions.
