Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury DBE was an Irish-British and American actress and singer who played many films, theatre, and television roles. With one of the longest careers in the entertainment industry, her career spanned over 80 years, much of it in the United States; her work also received much international attention.
Lansbury was recognized for her achievements in Britain on multiple occasions. In 2002, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) gave Lansbury a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Lansbury was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 1994 Birthday Honours and promoted to a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2014 New Year Honours for services to drama, charitable work, and philanthropy.
