Bård Ylvisåker Biography

Bård Urheim Ylvisåker who was born on March 21, 1982 is a Norwegian artist and comedian who is best known from the Ylvis Revival group . He and his brother, Vegard Ylvisåker , originate from Sogn , but grew up in Bergen , Angola and Mozambique .

The professional career started in the fall of 2000 with the performance “Ylvis – a cabaret” after Peter Brandt had discovered Bård in one of his performances at Fana School Theater . From there, their popularity has only increased. In the summer of 2004 they sold the tickets for 4.8 million for the show “Ylvis – En konsert”, which took place in Tønsberg .

They parody everything from God in Heaven to Swedish ice hockey players, from modern ballet to boy band. The duo has had shows all over the country and has also had regular entries in Trond-Viggo Torgersens TVT and Rune Larsen’s Absolute Norwegian at NRK .

– Everything means something, but what we know most about now is here in Norway. It is the audience here at home we have made this for. It’s very popular with people from other parts of the world, and it’s always kind of change, “said the comedians.

“If you have been in Norway for ten years and suddenly your material will be shown abroad and people like it. Of course, it’s very bad. It’s a change and new people. And then we have been abroad, it’s very bad to come back to all that’s positive about being in Norway. It’s not that it’s always better to embrace big and stay abroad, they say.

Nominated in three categories

Now Bård and Vegard have been nominated for “Best Humor Show” and “Innovation of the Year”, in addition to the Public Prize during this year’s Golden Route. The comedians are quick to share the credit for the success.

“We get very much attention as program managers, but when the program is nominated, it is a potential award to all who have helped to work with it. It’s very nice, “said the brothers. They are happy to have had the opportunity to go their own way in television production.

“I think we get closer and closer to something we like to keep on with yourself. When you start it’s very hard to do just what you want. It does not feel like you have a mandate. Now and then we force our own thoughts and opinions, Bård believes. The Ylvisåker boys believe they have had an advantage that acting has never been scary.

“We have always been blessed that we do not get nervous. There is nothing conscious, we are only lucky. None of us have any problems with going on a scene in front of many people. The more the merrier. Few people are the coolest, they say.

Creative in different ways

Bård and Vegard have worked together for over 18 years, and they describe work as an organic process where they have different roles.

“We are creative in different ways. I’m more like making things. If it’s going to be a plank, I can do it. Now I have made some of the costumes, while Bård has written lyrics, lyrics and lyrics, says Vegard.

As most brothers, they do not always agree. But that’s a good thing, they mean.

“It’s very fruitful to disagree in a creative process, so fortunately we disagree. But there are no big things. We are quite similar, which makes the work practical. It’s not just us, but also the others we’re working on, explains Vegard.

Not driven by celebrity status
When the duo is asked to tell about each other’s best qualities, it becomes a bit of laughter before they can figure out what to say.

“The best thing about Bård is the good mood, and the worst must be the bad mood,” says Vegard and Gliser.

“The best thing about Vegard is that he has the ability to get excited. The worst thing is that he’s very good, Bård barks.

Despite being one of the country’s most proficient groups of people, they are not driven by celebrity status.

“It’s okay to be in the spotlight. There is much we can tolerate if we are allowed to continue making things that we think are fun to make. It’s because you want to make things, so the spotlight comes second. It’s not a place we want to be, says Bård.

Big Brother agrees.

He and his wife Helene are awaiting their third child for the summer. The couple, who married in 2011, have previously had the children Emma (6) and Mads (4). In November, the family bought a mansion in the capital, and moved from the hometown of Bergen.

Bård Ylvisåker and Maria Lekva (32) met early in their teens, but the relationship survived youth time. Today, the couple is well married and parents to three.
