However, the report was circulated through CNN iReport not CNN. It is basically a site that allows anyone to upload stories of exclusive news.

In fact, anyone across the globe can upload a breaking event’s pictures or reports without any pre-vetting from CNN itself.

Whereas, in the singer’s case, a user named “MJTheDestroy” posted the bogus story on the site. Everyone went shocked by the news.

Of course, cyber citizens felt its presence at the mainstream notable network CNN web address which was enough to confirm its authenticity.

The news proliferated in such a way that the singer had to turn to Twitter to debunk rumours of his death and clear the ambiguity.

Reportedly, the hoax report of the singer’s death carried the headline “Gotye Dead at The Age of 32” to attract more traffic and viewers.

Currently, the report of his death has been removed and is replaced with a notice “Story Not Available: This Content is Currently Unavailable”.

The songwriter presently has set up a non-profit label “FF Record Label”. The motive behind the set-up is that he is working on electronic music.

After a lengthy break from the limelight and media, the Belgian-Australian singer has come forward with his music works.

Unfortunately, we are unaware if Gotye is sick or diagnosed with any possible disease at the moment. No such news has been published.
