Luke Olsen Alone Season 10 dad Larry Olsen is the author of Outdoor Survival Skills. The seventh edition of the fully revised book was published in 2021.
Larry Dean Olsen was an expert in the field of ancient skills. In a way, today’s trainers and practitioners have a direct or indirect connection to him in some ways.
Luke was the youngest of the 11 children of Larry and Sherrel. He was interested in his parent’s training classes when he was small.
He might have developed his resistance skills from his dad which gave him the courage to participate in such a alone reality show.
As the name, Alone, the contestants must live alone in the wilderness. In this American survival competition series, ten people compete to survive as long as they can with the ten items they have selected.

Luke Joseph Olsen father Larry Olsen is well-known in the field of primitive skills. Luke from season 10 learned survival from the best.
Larry Dean Olsen was born on January 23, 1939, near Jerome, Idaho. As a boy, he traveled into the remote surrounding areas to try and live there.
Since a young age, he was curious about primitive skills, and when he grew up, he wanted his field students to witness survival at its extreme levels.
He worked hard to show and teach how the people of the past survived through limited resources, and the Anasazi people and other indigenous people who resided in that area lived.
Larry Dean Olsen Outdoor Survival Skills, in print since 1967, is considered a masterpiece in the field. It was edited by Christopher Nyerges and published by Chicago Review Press.
His wife Sherrel was the co-author of the “Outdoor Survival Skills,”.
Besides this book, he wrote the first version of the Boy Scouts’ instructional manual for wilderness survival.
Larry was a Brigham Young University (BYU) undergraduate when he was offered $90 to educate about primitive skills to fellow students. It was in the year 1966.
The course became so famous that it got a name, “Youth Leadership 380,” for which Larry was paid double.
He started another course for students not doing well in typical classes and named it “Youth Leadership 480 course, ” or Youth Acculturation Through Outdoor Recreation.
In 1969, he and his staff won a national award: Youth Rehabilitation Through Outdoor Survival.
In 1978, Larry started The Rabbit Stick Rendezvous, by far the oldest primitive skills gathering in North America.
Larry Olsen survival skills were renowned and motivating to lots of people.
In 1988, Olsen and his longtime friend and partner Ezekiel Sanchez founded the Anasazi Foundation. It was the first type of program to acquire a license.
Later the foundation was nationally approved as a “behavioral healthcare provider.” Likewise, Olsen and Sanchez are often referred to as the “grandfathers” of the outdoor behavioral healthcare field.
Larry Olsen passed away on December 29, 2018, with his legacy alive.

Luke Joseph Olsen was bought up in the deserts of southern Idaho at his family’s hot springs resort “Miracle Hot Springs.”
Currently, he lives in Maui, Hawaii with his wife Delia Gaia Devi, and son. He is an entrepreneur and Glass artist by profession.
Out of 11 children, Luke was the youngest of his parents.

The Alone contestant is a PADI (Professional Association of Driving Instructors), divemaster, and surf instructor in Hawaii who loves to experience water with others.
Luke even worked at his father’s foundation, The Anasazi Foundation, and the Corps of Discovery at a young age and teaching groups through primitive wilderness expeditions.
This gave him early learning about the things he is experiencing now on the show.
The 39 year old first even journey can be traced back to his early age with his parents.

In his early twenties, he along with his wife moved to Northern California where they farmstead medical cannabis farm deep in the Trinity Alps for seven years.
After that, they traveled to Oregon and began a fun cannabis business with the purpose of making and sell Willie Nelson’s brand, “Willie’s Reserve.”
Currently, he runs a glass business, “Dichroic Images,” and also teaches ancestral skills at Pono Outdoor, an enrichment program of home school.
Luke is no longer part of Alone, Season 10 as he tapped out on day 20. It was episode 4 when due to severe gastrointestinal illness, Luke tapped out.
Then when he was on a hunt for a bear, a mama bear and her cub made him realize that it was time for him to go home to his wife and son.
However, he did not take it as a bad sign, in fact, his time in the wild gave him time to finish mourning his dad. He wishes to pass on the surviving skills to his son as well.

This season witness a new group of strong participants who are forced to their limits and tap into their amazing survival skills in a competition to be the last person remaining to win $ 500,000.
Larry Olsen survivalist inspired and motivated Luke in every possible way to survive in life’s journey whether it involves losing sometimes.
The contestants will have to survive to fight off against territorial bears, wolves, moose, and the freezing temperature of the North.
