Quote
1
I am not a Hemingway aficionado. (On admitting her limited knowledge of Ernest Hemingway's literature)
2
I loved to dance and went to Studio 54 at least twice a week. But I always felt nervous around the people there. I was in awe of that whole Halston-Liza Minnelli crowd. To me, they were the real celebrities and I was just a girl from Idaho. So I drank to loosen up. I never thought then that alcohol would become a problem. In my grandfather's time it was a virtue to be able to drink a lot and never show it. And like him, I wanted to live life to the fullest, with gusto. (People Magazine interview, 1988)
3
I think it's a celebration of my rebirth, I think it's one of the most positive things I've ever done. (After posing nude for Playboy in 1990)
4
Having the last name Hemingway isn't enough.
5
For a time, I was living the life of Ernest Hemingway.

Fact
1
Was originally in talks to play the title role in the remake She (1984). The role eventually went to Sandahl Bergman, who later co-starred with Hemingway in Inner Sanctum II (1994).
2
Raised in Portland, OR, Havana, Cuba, Central California and Ketchum, ID.
Sister Mariel Hemingway, while appearing on Larry King Live (1985) on CNN, stated publicly that Margaux did not commit suicide. She said that the original coroner reported that Margaux most likely died of an epileptic seizure. [July 2001]
9
Mariel went on to say that it was three weeks after Margaux's death that it was announced that she had committed suicide, and that the press most likely said this because it "made for a better story." Mariel had ironically enough played the owner of the Daily Planet (a newspaper) in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987).
10
Margaux's sister Mariel stated, "She (Margaux) was found with her legs propped up on a pillow, with a book in her lap. That does not sound like someone who committed suicide. The coroner said the same thing. Also, my sister was somewhat a drama queen. If she had committed suicide, she would have left a note ... a long note naming everyone who had ever wronged her."
11
Interred at Ketchum Cemetery, Ketchum, Idaho.
12
Found dead in her Santa Monica apartment on the 35th anniversary of the suicide of her grandfather Ernest Hemingway, whose father, brother and sister also committed suicide. Margaux had taken an overdose of Klonopin which is a benzodiazepine. (The benzodiazepine Klonopin is often used in the treatment of certain epileptic seizures as well as in the treatment of anxiety.).
13
Near the end of her life her career was reduced to such things as autographing R-rated trading cards for Playboy magazine, and working on a psychic telephone hotline.
14
L.A. coroner's office concluded that Margaux Hemingway killed herself by taking an overdose of a sedative. She was the fifth person in her family to commit suicide.
15
Passed away without probable cause, found in her studio apartment in Santa Monica, California by friends. Last seen on the street on Saturday, June 29, 1996 by neighbor. [1996]
