Nearly 50 aftershocks jolt Taiwan after 6.5-magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported

Taipei, Sep 18 (IANS) Starting around Sunday morning, 47 quakes have shocked Taiwan ensuing to a 6.5-extent seismic tremor that hit the eastern district of Taitung at 9:41 p.m. Saturday, including a 5.3-extent one at 10:35 p.m., said the island’s meteorological office.
The quakes prompted a few incidents, for example, wall breakdown, power disappointment, water pipes explodes, and celling breakdown, among others.
The impacted rail line areas have continued ordinary activity. No losses or extreme debacles have been accounted for up until this point, Xinhua news office revealed.
The meteorological office said the 6.5-extent shudder is the most grounded one happening in the focal point region throughout recent years, which was at a shallow profundity ashore and was subsequently felt across the island.
As per the China Seismic tremor Organizations Center, the focal point was checked at 23.05 degrees north scope and 121.21 degrees east longitude, at a profundity of 10 km.
