Pastor Clarence Sexton

Clarence Sexton was born at a Baptist hospital in Selma, Alabama, on Sunday morning, October 10, 1948. Clarence was the first of four siblings: Katherine, Tommy, Sheila, and Clarence. Before Clarence was in third grade, his family finally settled down in Maryville, Tennessee, after spending nineteen moves. He was eight years old at that time and had a restless upbringing. During his first year, he transferred from Maryville to Everett High School, where Robert Davis, the principal of Everett High School, became the most critical person in Clarence’s life.

In Everett High School, Clarence was a four-year starting halfback and team captain and showed exceptional athletic prowess. Clarence graduated from Hiawassee College, where he earned an associate arts degree. Later, he pursued her studies, earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching and pastoring in Greenback, and earned higher education at the University of Tennessee.

Clarence’s journey as a pastor

During his academic career, Clarence earned a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Humanities. Later, he pursued his educational journey and earned a master’s of Religious Education and a Doctor of Ministry Degree. In September 1972, after leaving Greenback, he started his pastor duties at Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Crown College was founded after the first heavenly inspiration to prepare people to serve Jesus Christ in the local churches. The lord of the church had prepared the church family to follow their new pastor fully.

On August 17, 1988, Clarence Sexton became the pastor of the Temple Baptist church, and due to the lord’s struggles to put the dream into Clarence’s heart to train people in the church, God showed his enormous favor for him. In August 1991, the college door was opened to sixty-nine students from fourteen states, and from 2006 to 2007, the door was opened to nine hundred students from more than 40 states and some foreign countries.
