Peter King is an American sportswriter and author. From 1989 to 2018, he wrote for Sports illustrated like the weekly multiple-page column Monday Morning Quarterback. Peter has written five books including Inside the Helmet. Nonetheless, he has been named the National Sportswriter of the Year three times.

Peter has also worked as a writer for The Cincinnato Enquire from 1980 to 1985 and Newsday from 1985 to 1989. This was before he joined Sports Illustrated. In 2009, Peter was awarded the Dick McCann Memorial Award for his work in professional football. In 1997, he was inducted into the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame.
