He came into public prominence when be became associated with televangelist Jim Bakker (pronounced like "baker"), his wife, Tammy Faye Bakker, and their ministry and television program The P.T.L. Club (1976). A major undertaking of the Bakker's ministry was the raising of money to build a sprawling massive Christian theme park called Heritage USA (dubbed by pundits as "Six Flags Over Jesus") located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He became the chief contractor on this project which made him a multi-millionaire. He made frequent appearances on the television program as it tracked construction of the park.
