S.Korea confirms 1st case of bird flu in 6 months

Seoul, Oct 19 (IANS) South Korea on Wednesday affirmed an exceptionally pathogenic avian flu or bird influenza case at a duck ranch without precedent for around a half year, the Horticulture Service said.
The case was first announced Tuesday at the homestead in the southeastern region of Yecheon, 165 km southeast of Seoul, and the specialists affirmed the exceptionally pathogenic kind of H5N1 prior in the day, Yonhap News Organization cited the Service as saying.
State leader Han Duck-soo requested the specialists to separate poultry inside a 500-meter sweep of the homestead, as a component of careful steps to stop the profoundly infectious viral illness from spreading.
